Graphic Narrative Work

Vanessa began creating graphic narrative work in 2019 at the Royal Drawing School. Since then she has worked on several projects from Royal Drawing School art collective Distant Connections zine project, to her graphic medicine inspired graphic memoir The C Word.

We are a collective of artists, illustrators and writers from U.S, China and Europe. We met during the first 2020 lockdown, in a graphic narratives course taught by Dr Sarah Lightman at the Royal Drawing School.

We decided to create a participative comic book project to highlight our experiences with lockdown.

We are passionate about narrative, graphic novels and comic books.

 

The C Word: nominated for The Comedy Women In Print Prize 2020.
As the first lockdown unfolded, my autobiographical, graphic medicine genre, graphic narrative, about my cancer diagnosis, The C Word, was long-listed by the UK's only comedy novel prize for women, run by celebrated comedienne & author Helen Lederer.
